- 1 cup La Favorita Margarine
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 2/3 cup warm milk
- 1 beaten egg for brushing
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, the sugar, the salt, and the dry yeast.
- Cut the La Favorita Margarine into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Work it in quickly with your hands until you have coarse crumbs.
- Add the warm milk and mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface and shape it into a rectangle.
- Fold the bottom third of the dough over the middle third, then fold the top third over the center, as if you were folding a letter.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for 30 minutes.
- After chilling, roll the dough out into a rectangle again and repeat the folding process.
- Refrigerate the dough for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle 1/4 inch thick and cut it into triangles.
- Roll the triangles up from the base toward the tip to form the croissants.
- Place the croissants on the baking sheet and let them rest for 30 minutes.
- Brush the croissants with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
