How to Make Bagels with Chimichurri

Ingredients

  • For the bagels
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp La Favorita Margarine (melted)
  • For the chimichurri
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 4 tbsp La Favorita Olive Oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, the sugar, the salt, and the yeast. Add the warm water and the melted La Favorita Margarine. Knead until you have a smooth, elastic dough. Let it rest covered for 40 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions, roll them into balls, and poke a hole in the center to shape the bagel. Boil water in a pot and cook each bagel for 1 minute per side. Take them out and drain them well.
  3. Place the bagels on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden. Take them out and let them cool slightly before moving on.
  4. In a bowl, mix the parsley, the cilantro, the garlic, the lime juice, salt, and pepper. Slowly stir in the La Favorita Olive Oil until the mixture is smooth and aromatic.
  5. Cut the bagels in half, toast them lightly if you like, and add the chimichurri. This one is ideal for fresh, flavor-packed breakfasts.
  6. Remember that more than the result, what's truly special is the process — every step is a chance to add your personal touch and bring out your favorite version.
