Ingredients
- 4 filet mignon steaks (6-7 oz each)
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 8 oz mushrooms
- 2 tbsp La Favorita Oliva (Olive) Oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 tbsp butter
Directions
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp of La Favorita Oliva Oil over medium-high heat.
- Add 4 filet mignon steaks and cook on both sides until browned outside but still juicy in the center. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Cook until golden and fragrant.
- Add 8 oz of sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until tender and they have released their juices.
- Add 1 cup of beef stock and 1/2 cup of red wine. Cook over medium-high heat until the sauce reduces by half.
- Add 1 tbsp of butter and stir until it melts into the sauce.
- Return the filet mignon steaks to the skillet with the sauce and cook over medium-low heat for a few minutes so they soak up the flavors.
- Serve the filet mignon steaks with the mushroom sauce spooned over the top. They pair well with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
